EPIRBs, PLB and AIS Beacons

We offer a range of PLBs (Personal Locator Beacons) and Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) used to alert rescuers that there is a life threatening man overboard (MOB) situation with a need to be rescued. Most EPIRBs now include a built-in GPS so that the exact location of the emergency can be transmitted via satellite to the emergency rescue services. EPIRBs are associated and registered with a specific vessel and once activated will generally continue transmitting for at least 48 hours. By contrast, a PLBs is a smaller, personal distress beacon that will transmit for at least 24 hours. Some PLBs use AIS as a means of transmitting the distress signal.
